Sun and Sand

Sorry to all my loyal subscribers (2) that I have neglected my "blog" for more than two weeks. But now I'm back with a refreshed fervor, ready to take on the issues of the world one starving child at a time. That's right, I've decided to put everything else on hold, including my preoccupation with Nutella chocolate, and open my very own Orphanage. Yes, I know this seems way out there, and not in any way related to anything I've been interested in or aspired to do with my time and life, but I've decided that there are just so many children without parents and homes in this bleak but hope-filled world, that it's time for me to do something about it.

First, I'm going to finish watching all the episodes of 24 season 6. I have to say that I've been watching a bit more TV since I came to Israel because I live in a rent-free apartment that has a TV with cable. I justify this waste of time by arguing that I'm improving my Hebrew by watching Israeli television. Yea...right. But still I don't watch much TV, the only show that I think is worth watching in this world besides Seinfeld, Southpark and Family Guy, is.......24. It's absolutely the best show of all time.

Now, back in the days one would have to wait for the show to broadcast at the same time on the same day each week, and sit through brain-numbing commercials. But now, with the advent of Torrent Technology, one can download the show a day before it airs, illegally, and watch it at ones leisure, without the interruptions of commercials. Yes! BTW you can also do this with any show, and a million other things.

For example, GMAT books, which are usually $50 or more, are absolutely critical for preparing for the GMAT test. As you may or may not know, I am taking this test in exactly 18 days because I am applying to business school here in Israel. Now, even though I could probably get my folks to buy these books for me, I am not some dependent blood sucking vampire child, and so I look for other money-saving options. Brilliantly, I found that if I typed in GMAT in the torrent search engine, it turned up at least two scanned versions of two different GMAT sets of practice tests and answers. One download was basically three hundred questions and answers in acrobat reader, and the other was six full length practice tests from previous years, with answers. These things cost major $ in the stores, but if you're willing to wait a few hours for the downloads, than its all free! The only drawback is that the answers don't have explanations, and the scanned copies are sometimes illegible. But now that I've studied for a bit, I can figure out the explanations to wrong answers myself.

So there it goes, check out torrents. I recommend Bit torrent as the download client, but I'm sure they're all pretty much the same.

Now I've just finished downloading the latest episode of 24 and I'm about to watch it. But a few more words before I go.

Yesterday was my first day actually on the beach, with lots of other people, because its the Passover holiday, which is kind of like Spring Break in the states. Also it was finally hot enough to go the beach, and my friend Nadan was here in Natanya so we went together. We even took my laptop and listened to Brazilian music while laying on the sand. It's moments like this that make you realize that sun and sand is really all one needs in life (along with money, women, fame, fast cars, quality drugs and plenty of amphibious pets).

Speaking of women, I met a nice Israeli girl which is pretty cool. We went out once, but we're meeting again tomorrow. So if I can just get the money, fame, fast car, drugs and amphibious pets than I'll be right where i wanna be.
